When you hire a consultant, you are paying for their experience and knowledge. New South Associates’ staff is drawn from upper level personnel with years of experience in cultural resource compliance. Our Principal Investigators and Project Managers average 22 years of professional experience.

When hiring consultants, the old adage “you get what you pay for” is especially true. As a client, you want seasoned professionals who can make real world decisions and successfully negotiate in your best interests with review agency personnel. With New South Associates, that’s what you get.

New South Associates takes great pride in the qualifications of its staff members. Our staff includes four (4) PhD and seventeen (17) MA level archaeologists, historians, and architectural historians who are responsible for supervising and completing cultural resource assignments. This upper level staff is supported by a number of BA level employees who assist in more complex assignments as well as carry out small-scale investigations under the supervision of a senior staff member, and who work in the laboratory and the field. Additional project level archaeologists, historians and laboratory and field assistants are hired on an as-needed basis from a large pool of experienced MA and BA level personnel. Support staff includes our graphics specialists, a photographer with HABS/HAER experience, a GIS specialist, and office and project managers.

Our senior staff has combined more than two centuries experience in cultural resources consulting, and has authored nearly 1500 technical reports. Our staff is well regarded by archaeologists, historians and architectural historians in local, state, and federal review agencies.

Most of our staff archaeologists are certified by the Register of Professional Archaeologists and our staff also includes members of the Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee Professional Archaeological Councils as well as archaeologists certified by the Council for the Protection of the Terrestrial Archaeological Heritage of Puerto Rico.
