The Corps of Engineers has its own requirements for cultural resource studies, and reservoirs, whether for hydropower or recreation, private or public, provide their own unique setting for cultural sites. New South Associates knows the Corps of Engineers. We have worked with the Mobile, Wilmington, Savannah, and Jacksonville Districts on a routine basis, as well as with other districts, providing all of the various types of cultural resource services needed by the Corps of Engineers for their new construction projects, as well as the maintenance and improvement of their established facilities. We know the Corps of Engineers' permitting requirements. And we know reservoirs. We have completed surveys, site testing, and data recovery studies for both local and federal reservoirs. From the dam site to the flood pool mark, we can answer the cultural resource needs of a reservoir.

New South Associates has completed more than 185 cultural resource projects directly for the Corps of Engineers, and many others where cultural resources consulting is required as part of the permitting process. We have provided the Corps of Engineers with architectural surveys, HABS/HAER documentation for historic bridges, large and small archaeological surveys, testing, archaeological data recovery, National Register nominations, and popular reports. Whether it is an archaeological survey for a new marina on a Corps of Engineers' reservoir, a permit requirement for cultural resource assessment for a development along a major river, or part of the environmental documentation for reservoir construction, New South Associates has the experience that the Corps of Engineers and reservoir studies demand.
